Tellurian Drama is a short film by Riar Rizaldi, exploring colonial history, indigenous ancestral
power, and geoengineering through the story of Radio Malabar in West Java, Indonesia.
Amussu is a documentary film set in Imider, a small Amazigh community in southeastern
Morocco, directed and written by Nadir Bouhmouch. In 2011, the community shut down a major
water pipeline to halt the impact of Africa’s largest silver mine. The film chronicles the villagers’
eight-year peaceful resistance as they transform their protest camp into a small solar-powered
village, continuing to resist through songs, poetry, theatre, weekly assemblies, and a local film
festival.
This screening is curated and introduced by Meliza George as part of ‘Whose Land? Whose
Lens?’ a season of works from the global south discussing the protection of land and therefore
peoples through the lens of slow cinema. The season is presented with the National Film and
